I BOUGHT THIS CHAIR ONLINE THE WIRE SHELL DOESN'T QUIET LOOK LIKE MY OTHER CHAIRS
IT HAD AN ORIGINAL BIKINI WITH THE HERMAN MILLER LOGO ON THE BACK
BUT ON THE BASE IT SAYS PATENT PENDING (ALSO THE SQUARE IS A SMALLER DIMENSION THAN THE OTHER WIRE CHAIRS
IS THIS AN EARLY PREPRODUCTION ?
PLEASE HELP A FELLOW DESIGN ADDICT
LINK
First year production
Here is an example.
It's possible that either the base or glides are not original to the shell.

A couple of other questions
Is this chair quite rare? (has a yellow bikini with the same label as the other lkx-1 chair)
Since it has a couple of dodgy weldings is it allright to have them rewelded or leave it in the condition as is.

You stated
That the chair has already been re-welded at some point, so there is no harm in fixing those up now if they need repair. Generally speaking, these shells are notorious for breaking. You could look for one in good original condition for collecting purposes, but I personally would not use it much.
