.
That's a wonderful marriage of coffee table and magazine rack, woody.
Yep, Aunt Mark

Low - N' - Laminated
L - N- L looks like a good way to go.
(Or.... that's Mark when he gets too buzzed...)
I admit I have long been craving an early first-version plywood edged LTR with black laminated top.
That is a very beautiful space woody. I love that high shelf too.

Previously over mentioned,
Eames stools are functional in front of a sofa. And the term "coffee table" seems a bit dated. Why not call them "beverage tables"?
or??

beautiful set of stools mark
(and you don't have to call them "coffee" tables this way either..)
Nice to be able to move them around as needed, and they offer so much to look at. They look awesome with the fabric on the couch too. I hope Mr. Chopper doesn't find them too interesting though.
Do you ever stack them on top of each other just to see it happen? I don't know if i could resist. I very much like the idea of a tall "sculpture" made of them. If I ever get one, I know I will end up with all three.
I get it now... Bev-naps are for "beverage" tables. Duh EH...
I love pre dawn Sunday morning...

Maybe it's just me,
but I've always assumed the difference between a "coffee table" and a "cocktail table" was a matter of the time of day.

so then
at around 10:00am...or so, my coffee table goes through a daily change. That makes sense.
All the best,

Another option
...from another of my favorite designers, George Nelson.
I have one of these with a walnut top in my study and we just got one in that has a nice teak top. I think this particular design is totally underrated.

That's one seriously sweet table, pegboard.
I'm not familiar with it. Love it. Pure table porn.

the 2 we own
I flip tons and tons and tons of coffee tables, but these 2 have been with us for ages.
The top one my wife bought 20 years ago after haggling for about a year over the price. She was so proud.
The 2nd (which has a matching, smaller table) I think may be a Paul Mccobb, but not sure. The legs are solid brass (bronze?) and it is just the right size. Needs to have the top worked on a bit. It is in our den so is often covered in kid stuff.

cdsilva, I also love the smile table by Johannes Andersen. I already have a very nice MCM table that I also love (can't recall the designer off the top of head). If I had enough room for another coffee table, I would be all over the smile table though.

Sorry
I sounded frightful
I'm recovering from killer flu (a cold)
I feel the same way about glass dining tables too, though
