Hi Gang,

New to the group. I recently found 6 Plycraft chairs in the basement of an old home I am listing, and the owner was about to allow the trash haulers to take them, before I asked if I could have them (because they are modern looking). She said of course. I did some research after reading the labels and now know all about Plycraft, Cherner, Goldman, Miller, Rockwell, Bernardo, etc:) (what a crazy story all of that is). She also told me her mom bought them in 1963 as a set with the table, but I cannot find that Plycraft made a table, although the legs are identical to the chairs. The table came with a leaf as well and both have H63A marked underneath but no label (although there are staples and a piece where one used to be (bummer).

Would love some help assessing what I have here as they do not say Cherner and I understood after 1961 they ought to? I cleaned them up and put some English oil on them and they look great. They have wear and light scratches but really are stunning. I'm thinking about redoing the upholstery as mice seem to have nibbled some of the edges off, but unsure what that would do to the value?

I also found a 1960's Scissor Chair by Kosuga. It had been reupholstered in cheetah fabric by the woman's mom, but seems to be in great shape and I can remove that fabric easily and add cushions like this one that is selling for $1950 https://www.incollect.com/listings/furniture/seating/scissor-lounge-chair-by-kosuga-171339 advice? I may list this in another thread actually.

That is a pretty nice score. We do not value things on this site, only appreciate the beauty and stories that come along with the pieces, but check sold listings on ebay, sold Etsy(using flipper tools), completed auctions at auction houses (Wright, Skinner, Rago, etc.), etc. for pricing. 1st Dibbs and most of the other similar online forums are usually much higher than the reality of what something will actually fetch when sold. There is also a very strong dependency on where you try to sell and condition.

As for the chairs, I think it is safe to say they are real, as they are marked Plycraft, and they did indeed make these chairs. I dont know for sure, but I have seen the table paired with the chairs before, so I think it is safe to assume that this is also legit.

There are others on the forum that are far more experienced with the American designers, and may be able to corroborate/deny my less informed opinion.

Thank you Zephyr. I also think the table goes with the chairs because of the distinct and exact same legs, but the lack of markings can't corroborate. For value, I have been looking at those sites and also realize this is not the forum for that. Just wanted to see if anyone thought it was a plycraft table, and get advice about re-upholstering the seat cushions.

I have a similar story, bought 4 plycraft chairs and a table on Ebay about ten years ago. The table legs match the chairs exactly but the top is plastic laminate with a leaf, no markings. It has to be plycraft since the legs are an exact match and they were sold together...but I've never seen it online until your photos! Thanks for sharing.
