after 5 months of construction i thought i would take a few pictures of my house in progress i love the Frank Lloyd Wright pattern that i am doing and we should be doing the fireplace, this week and have 3 more walls I have already added the front atrim area with field stone, all of this rock came in from Tennessee on a flat bed truck , The stone was so big that it had to be split and i split most of the rock my self by hand,
The house should be ready for the national trust tour, in October
These are the same folks that are the caretakers to the Phillip Johnson glass house,

as soon as it is...
as soon as it is finished i will have it professionally photographed, I still have to replace 6 celestial windows 10 ft by 5 ft not fun, and have the place painted a cool color,
It truly has been my summer project the reason it has taken so long is one mason has been doing it all with me, and he manages to not show up the day after he gets paid, I know why,
but i have a learned a lot about stone, and how to split it, my tired old 57 year old hand needs a new shot of cordozone and i will get it in September.

Beautiful Lloyd!
But I think I can say from all of your pals here at DA, just take it easy. Lot's of 57 year old guys after years of sedentary existence get the home fix-it bug, over-do it and the wife finds em dead on the garage floor from over exertion, rushing to make some arbitrary completion date. Be here now, and be here a long time from now to enjoy it.
I've got a cross country trip in mind, perhaps in a year or two and I hope to see you and your beautiful home in person, so go easy.

Wright
never mixed brick and stone in this way, but the effect is rich and warm. Nor did he make horizontal stripes or meandering walls of stone -- so you've invented a look of your own. Well done !

Big TV man love to have you come through Tulsa love to show you the place
SDR In the book Frank Lloyd Wright mid century modern by Alen Weintraub and Alen Hess a few of the homes have brick and stone mostly stone in the front walls and brick supporting the outside walls
This style of stone i am doing was found in a home that was in recently renovated to be a bread and breakfest in Pennsylvania.
Also check out the Arthur Hurtley House in Oak Park Illinois looks like he did horizontal stripes on that house in Brick,
I will see if i can post the picture, I am creative, but when i saw this home it just made it a natural for trying to do this style.

LRF -- what a knock out! The masonry looks better than I remember from when you first posted a picture at the outset. It'll be interesting to see the done deal, complete with the designer concrete you had mentioned in another thread.
