I love the threads here where many people contribute. Maybe some people will find this topic interesting?

I imagine that many here have some very interesting original photos of modern design that were taken when the design was still new. What makes these photos so interesting to me is that the furniture/objects/architecture in the photograph is often incidental to whatever reason the photo was taken - in contrast to modern photos of MCM where the subject of the photo is the furniture itself!

The stories that accompany the photos can also be interesting.

I'll start off with some examples that aren't quite thrilling, but they are all I have personally. The photos come from my grandparent's collection of slides which I recently digitised. My grandparents lived in a rural area of Canada where modern furniture and design were not common. They never owned any, apparently. But there were a few photos taken on a holiday in 1972 in Caracas, Venezuela (of all places!?) that I spotted a couple of well-known modern designs as well as a few unknown (to me).

1. Saarinen tulip chairs at the pool?
2. Interesting garden architecture - I believe at the Macuto Sheraton, built in 1963.
3. Cool wire-frame table. A lovely Eames DKR in the background. The green (foreground) and white (background) wire-frame chairs look interesting also, as does the wire-frame lamp. Grandma drinking Sprite 🙂

Enjoy my meagre contribution, and please feel free to share!

Architect's home office
I think this is a great idea for a thread. Here's my contribution - the home office of the architect who designed my house. This picture was taken in the early 60s.

Out of order
Maybe I should have posted the pictures in the opposite order. As B&W was commonplace before color photography, I assumed the fish was added later.

My only photo......
My only photo... err...negative, and was found in book I purchased. Appears to be a Steelcase knock off of an Eames. This past weekend I came across a small stack of Nelson bubbles, Eames chairs etc. Didn't buy, not my thing. Should I see them again, will photograph them for you.

Vintage interior
photo from the estate of an architect. Judging from the professional photos that he had taken of jobs he did, his work was mostly corporate. Nearly all of the photos were of exteriors, but there was this one nice shot with the Platner pieces.

Whoever
trittium is, he/she can stay. That was hilarious. I see a future in snarky greeting card writer for him/her!
