I have a vintage cast iron Sarrinen table with a laminate top that needs refinishing. This particular top had three sections to it and I'm told that it was a prototype. The outside edge where the mica touches the camber shows a
1/16th or maybe less of the mica edge. Has anyone else seen this detail on the edge? Thanks.

.
This question needs photos and specificity to give it the meaning you wish to convey, I think.
Is it a "custom" size table with a leaf? How big is it? Marriages are not unheard of with these things.
Does the laminate need to be replaced? Or does the top no longer exist? I notice you refer to it in the past tense.
If your "problem" is slight yellowing or edge scuffs or chips or rust on base then I'd urge touch-up instead of refinishing. Light steel wool removed unsightly rust stains from the laminate on my Saarinen side tables.

Aren't Saarinen tulip bases made out of aluminum?
