Has anyone had any experience painting a fiberglass shell chair? If so, any advice on how to do it? Was the finish satisfactory?

Every attempt to paint an Eames shell I have seen so far has been bad. Usually there is overspray, a general matte effect, chipping, and no visible fibers. I would clean it best I can and either keep it or sell it if it is not satisfactory. Some people like the 'patina.'

take it to a car body shop that specialises in customising paintwork, they will love doing it and wont charge you a lot and result is often better than original. These guys are used to all sorts of media, metal, fibreglass etc.
