I don't know what these are, but they look like they were once cool. Now they are burgundy instead. Sheesh.

Painting some woods is a blasphemous deed! Quite a chore to get that cleaned up.

I cringe when I hear "Shabby Chic". It started out with people painting junked furniture then it turned into people painting any piece they felt like, which destroyed a lot of valuable, if not good pieces.

I would be happy to have bought these if they weren't painted. I am guessing ti would be a nightmare to strip them.

You
never know what's under the paint... could be the reason they were painted in the first place?

might be worthwhile checking ...
might be worthwhile checking how they were painted (and what sort of paint was used), if they were prepped properly it would be quite tricky to remove
if they have just had some emulsion sloshed over them without keying the surface I would imagine it would be a lot easier, the fact that the hinges have been painted would indicate a poor job

I bet you it's just latex,...
I bet you it's just latex, which would be easy to strip. It's just a big box, nothing too hard.

That would be a very annoying project.
What a drag they painted the interior as well.
Nice enough to bother? i'm not so sure.
A good guess is the original finish created a nice
firm barrier coat between the wood and the paint.
Stripping could be rather easy but...
