I just purchased 4 vintage Herman Miller DCW chairs that look to be in excellent shape except that they have 2 coats of high gloss house paint on them. The paint looks like it was applied many years ago and everything is painted including underside of the chairs, the screws and shock mounts. I plan on disassembling each chair to work on removing the paint but wondered what type of paint remover to start with so I don't do any unnecessary damage to any original patina that may be there. Any thoughts on how to proceed?
