I need to buy two new sofas for my great room. I am looking for opinions regarding whether or not the styles and fabrics should match. Should the style be the same with different fabrics? or the same fabrics on both? I am prefer a more contemporary style with exposed legs and square arm.

I likem matching sofas personally. Just make sure they aren't too "loud." That's a lot of sofa there ...

I have never seen 2 sofas in ...
I have never seen 2 sofas in the same room before, you must have a really big room? Why not do one sofa and a loveseat/settee instead of 2 full blown sofas?

I like matching sofas..
they can look good and in a roundabout way they sometimes make the room look even bigger,It depends how large the room is though i suppose.

Sounds large enough..
Go ahead and get the twin sofas!. I would either get two identical or two complete different styles...i have two in one of my rooms, one is contemporary and plain and the other is a French gilt piece and i think they look ok.

Two identical sofas or two totally different.

look's good..
I think two clean line sofas would look great in a room. What configuration are you looking at, facing or L shaped? What shape coffee table/side table are you looking at?

I want to do the sofas in a "L" shape...
because I have two sliding doors on each side of the room, and a flat screen next to that. My windows in the room all have the "eyebrow" curve at the top, so I am thinking possibly round or oval end tables. I previously had a coffee table in the room before, and everyone put their feet on it. So, I am going to do a large square ottoman, or possibly a couple of the "cube" ottomans.

Hello emmyo...
I think you should go with the end/side tables as it seems that you get the sort of visitors who will put their feet on ottomans or whatever you place in a foot reaching position!,a problem easily cured of course, when said person puts a foot on something they shouldnt just jab them with a pin,its called aversion therapy!,ha.Have you got bare windows? i love bare windows and especially with such tall ceilings.

I'm with viviene too
Identical or completely opposite. In hyour case I think maybe the identical makes sense. And I like the ottoman you can put your feet up on. In my house I plan most of my 'comfy' seating to include foot elevation. To me it's the only way to be really comfortable.

Yes, the windows are bare...
I had them all treated with Vista film so I don't have any UV damage to the furnishings. I have two very large set of windows that flank each side of the fireplace that are almost floor to ceiling. There are also two transom windows above each sliding glass door
