good find, right price
ok, so this wasn't all that recent, but it's a good, true story from about three years ago.
i was on my way to an evening class at a local university when i spotted a pair of plattner lounge chairs on someone's tree lawn ready for trash pickup. at the time i didn't know anything about these chairs or plattner himself, but i could tell there was something obviously unique enough about these chairs that would warrant their becoming my acquisition and my doing some research.
since they had the original knoll tags on them with a mfg. date of 1970, it didn't take much digging to find out their origin and value. these are most likely the best thing i've ever found [and certainly so at the price]!
regarding their condition, on a scale of 1 to 10 i'd give them probably a 5 since they need some attention to the upholstery. i'm not sure if i'll have them restored and use them myself for a while or just sell them on ebay as is.
anyway, that's my story of one lucky find! and it wouldn't have even happened if i weren't the type to slow down and gawk a bit whenever i see someone's throw-aways dragged to the curb!

Hey LRF great photo.
From the looks of this photo, you surely know what time it is. Man that picture is a near spitting image of my grandfather's living room when he was alive back in the 60's and 70's. From the ad photos posted under the title, "I love these ads" to this photo, it has been one heck of a week or so for time travel for me. Are those "pot metal" cast souvenier sculptures of the Effiel Tower and such on the bottom shelf? Fabulous!

so exactly how much are you charging for the cado rails and for cado shelves. I'd be interested in three rails and two shelves. Thanks

big television man
I have been collecting all kinds of stuff for years all of the miniature's
of buildings are pot metal as well as the clocks. Of all the thousands of things i have collected over the years the clocks have been my favorite I have the FDR man of the Hour, Joe Louis, Will Rodgers, and Major Boles as well as every pot metal cowboy clock made, I must say it was fun and it was a hunt, On the other wall is my George Nelson clocks from the 50's and 60's they have been fun also to say the least I am on time and love clocks!!!

maryannScott you are awfully quiet, after your explicit story of Isamu Nogguchi who killed himself in 1971, have you been run under the bedcovers? still want to know what you want for the shelves
