Sorry, I've been re-reading this thread and I desperately have to ask a question.

Please Leif, can you tell us what your 'once in a lifetime' opportunities have been? Did you miss them or snag them?

P.S I've made my offer! Unfortunately it's the profit from the Zalszupin desk I picked up, so I am not very flexible. If there's a counter-offer rather than a handshake I think that will be the dream chair postponed for a while.

Well, the most recent one was an A. Bender Madsen & Ejnar Larsen for Willy Beck game table.

I just Googled it and that is a truly beautiful thing. Even my partner who gives next to no indication of caring for design merely glanced over at my screen and said it was 'stunning'. And I think he's right.

On the subject of Ole Wanscher designs, I saw some "Danish" chairs and a Nils Johnsson, Swedish table listed online the night after this conversation. They were up in Norfolk (I think, or maybe Nottinghamshire?)

The chairs were a light wood, I assumed light teak. I saw the base of the chairs and instantly they looked like a Wanscher design to me - much like the picture Leif posted. Interestingly the top corners of the backrest also abstractly reminded me of the armrests on the Colonial chair. So I searched and searched, and couldn't find anything that night. I messaged her and she confirmed they were stamped with CH&S and Odense.

This is the curious part to me, there's an obvious thought of who that stamp will be, but I didn't know Carl Hansen & Son ever had a stamp that was CH&S. They have a CHS logo or the full name, right?

I was disappointed as I wanted to know what they were.

This evening I discovered they were Ole Wanscher 1675 chairs! I am very proud of my eyes for that guess, but not so proud of my stomach for not having the courage to make an offer on the visual. But these weren't made by Carl Hansen at all, rather Fritz Hansen. Perhaps Carl Hansen picked up production in a more unpopular period and they weren't early productions?

I'm very confused.

P.S I think I will soon be in possession of an Ole Wanscher chair which I adore. I feel very guilty, but very pleased.
