does anybody know if any of the eames/herman miller side chairs came without the embossed herman miller stamp on the bottom? I have a set of 6 orange chairs that I was told are real, but they have no label on the bottom, no herman miller stamp, just a silver stamp that looks like it says "zenith 4 prime" and then a serial number. any help would be greatly appreciated. danielxsmith@gmail.com
Yes, pictures would be...
Yes, pictures would be good.
Still, I know that the sideshells were made without the HM stamp in the early days of production. Also, the early production was made by Zenith Plastics, so it looks as if your chairs could very well be original.
Is there a 'Z' stamp anywhere? I have seen those on some early armshells..

contact the Eames office or gallery
I called the Eames office and then emailed pictures of my 1958 shell chair with no HM emblem. It took awhile, but they emailed me back and authenticated it. I can't remember the email address they told me to send the pictures to, it's not the regular one.
