The home that the Nazi commandant lived in was a wonderful home not like the french villas you see in all the old German movies this home had the feel of either a art deco complex or a Bauhaus complex ,

The Nazis were rather conservative, and viewed modernism with disdain. Remember, the Nazis literally kicked out the Bauhaus. They cherry picked what they liked/ disliked. When I get a chance, will see the film.
There's another WWII film about a boy evading capture by attending a military school , also has interesting decorative pieces. Wish I could recall the name.
