Two of my favourite things, I re-read and watched fahrenheit 451 again recently and got very excited by the Safege experimental track (perhaps not strictly a monorail), not so good for the disabled but its damn sexy, I'm not sure if platforms were meant for the pylons or if the exit was intended to descend from the car like in the film.

Any other enthusiasts or should I pack up my anorak and go home?

Without a doubt
I just watched the movie again last week (a part of my important permanent film collection). The monorail is great as is the fire truck.
My soon to realized desire is a set of Budd aluminum railcars. Perfect for travel and an ideal place for geust to stay.

Yes
Yes. Something silmilar to the Budd California Zephyr.
Interior seating by Knoll (the Pfister petite sofa and club cars are my favorite) and Fritz Hansen PK20, PK22, and PK80 units. Ligne Roset Peter Maly for sleeping. La Cornue Châteseau for cookig. The same as my home. Federal guidlines exist for certification (everything must be bolted down is the obvious) so this will be no small undertaking. The actual cost of the railcar is similar to an automobile (proprotionally) in that you get what you pay for and it is all about maintenance. The second car is for the kitchen and mobile storage.
I have liked trains since I was a child. My twenty five year (not age) girlfriend likes the idea of parking this on a siding in the small rural southern town of her chidhood to visit family.
I have spoken with the current owner of Barbara Hutton's private car. It has been restored to period (not my style, but extremely well done) and is a priviate residence that moves. Needless to say the owner is a wealth of information.

To say nothing of
. . .a wealth of wealth !
Congratulations for having a great dream, and seeing it to fruition. I can't wait to see the photos -- and the headlines !
Ford built a couple of stainless-steel bodied '36 sedans (as I recall it) in co-operation with Budd (as I remember -- could be all wrong). Anybody know more ?

SDR there are dangerous individuals
SDR, I hesitate to post photos as there appear to be some dangerous individuals participating in this forum (see Gasland posting) such as, Lunchbox, that threaten to "to pillage whatever you have without folly".
First it was a person, Whitespeak, in an earlier posting that endorsed international smuggling and suggested his biggest moral issue was getting caught and now this brazen challenge to steal another design ethusiast hard earned purchases.
How sad that there are always a few people (the minority) that feel it is better to break the law for their personal gain as opposed to honest work like the rest of society.

Always be true to your national heritage
Heath, as your country was founded by criminals it only makes sense that your stay true to your national heritage. Severe punishment with extreme prejudice is the only thing that your type understands. "Special treatment" with aggressive questioning is a good start!
