I recently acquired a Preben Broste rosewood and brass nutcracker. Since I've seen a few random nutcracker posts on various threads here, I thought it might be good to start a dedicated thread for nutcrackers, so it would be easy to find all of the various designs in one place.
I'll go ahead and start off with the two that I own:
1) Preben Broste rosewood/brass "plier's style" or "V-shaped" nutcracker - I have a P Broste catalog, but this item is not in there. There are quite a few online listings that claim Werksdesign as the designer, but I have not seen any vintage evidence that would back that up. Although mine is unmarked, I did find a few online that have the P Broste brand stamped in them.
2) Dansk teak/beech screw nutcracker with handled bowl, designed by Jens Quistgaard, model # unknown - This piece is a nice variation of the better-known Congo ice buckets. The wooden screw mechanism isn't the most efficient for cracking nuts, but it does make for a nice table centerpiece.
