I am in the process of designing and building a custom floor lamp. I am frustrated with the lack of contomporary options in parts like sockets and electrical cords. Regarding lamp sockets why only brass, white or black or worse brown!? Why not say red or some other color? I could purchase a $15 lamp from IKEA and salvage the parts I want but in my mind if I'm making a lamp that I hope to sell as custom designed and built its hard for me to justify the salvaged IKEA parts. Can anyone recommend a lighting supplier of contemporary lamp parts?

I have bought textile cords...
I have bought textile cords and porcelain sockets from Loewinstein in Frankfurt/Germany in the past. They do look great in a modern design!

Modern lamp parts
Any more sources found? I am interested in making some lamps as well with my glasswork. I am just having a hard time finding sources for parts comparable to my glass pieces.

The search continues for modern versions of lamp kits and hardware. Although I did find this pendant style cord on West Elm.
