Okay okay, I know ceiling fans are a no-no. But I really need one in my bedroom largely because I have a marine fish tank in there and need ample air movement to help keep the O2 up in the tank. Also, I like to use less air conditioning at night and I use the current fan to help 'cool' the room. I rent from my sister and brother-in-law and they have said I can change out lighting fixtures to make everything more 'modern' so long as I store what I took down (so we can switch them back out should I decide to move). The bedroom already has a ceiling fan but it is ugly. I would like a more modern ceiling fan. I have located a nice-looking one by Artemis. Anyone use these before? What are your experiences? Are they worth the money? Any other suggestions for fans? I would ideally like one done in a nice wood like the Artemis one. Any suggestions would be appreciated. And I would definitely prefer a ceiling fan over a desk/floor fan.

as good as it gets
Cloudburst2000,
The Stratos by Ron Rezek for the Modern Fan Company is about as good as it gets.

easy to hang
woodywood,
I have been a user of these fans since their introduction by the Beverly Hills Fan Company. They are all great. I think that Cloudburst2000 may find hanging the Cirrus much easier than the Stratos. The solid down shaft of the Staros requires balancing the blades and I believe that the Cirrus hangs by an internal hook (under the canopy) and does not require any balancing.

Hmm..some nice fans but a bit...
Hmm..some nice fans but a bit too industrial for my tastes in the bedroom (which is why I like the Artemis fan). If I decide to go with an industrial look, I could just pick something up from Big Ass Fans. They are only a couple minutes from me.

Cheap, good and quiet
I don't think fans are a no-no. Practicality must needs win out sometimes.
I looked at Big Ass and at Modern Fan and the prices are too rich for my blood. Believe it or not I ended up with a fan from Home Depot that was only $70, quiet, moves a ton of air and is pretty invisible up there on the ceiling. Comes in white and steel finish.

I would certainly get
An inexpensive, large industrial fan if I had a big open space with high ceilings.

White.
I'd just get a nice white ceiling fan; it can blend with the ceiling well if your ceiling is white. Something like this one. I think Home Depot has them or had them depending on where you live.

A different approach
I now think that a Dyson Tower and a Pedestal Air Multiplier fan each will resolve the problem and not only be portable, but require no installation. Of course, I am aware that these units cost more than something sold at Ikea, Home Depot, or for those discriminating shoppers, K-Mart. Help the economy by spending more money.

Bubble machines.
Niceguy, those are some expensive bubble wands.

I'm not a huge fan of those...
I'm not a huge fan of those Dyson fan things. And I really want a ceiling unit so the downward movement of the air can hit the top of the fish tank.
I have to say Olive that of the other fans posted that the one you posted from Home Depot was about just as appealing. So if I decide not to go the wood route, I might get one of them and save myself some moolah. I can use it for my fish tanks instead. Marine fish and corals are expensive!

try this
Cloudburst2000,
Perhaps the Elos Midi rimless aquarium along with a new fan is the answer.

I know what you're saying Cloudburst...
it's clean simple and inoffensive. I really don't think that a fan is a design statement...in fact, I don't want it to be! So why not save the dough!? The thing is quiet, and moves a TON of air. On the high-setting we call it the jet engine.
