I see it didn't to the one I picked. They have many, many awful ones with logos. They have two I like that are completely devoid of decoration. So what do you think: khaki, army green, or black? I sort of like army green....

Too big, I think
I think you might find it too big and the canvas will be much heavier than a nylon type. Try the website www.ebags.com they have zillions of bags. I chose a link to a bag you might like. It has external pockets for iPOD, cell phone and water bottle. It's considered medium-sized, but you might be happier with a small sized one. Search the site, you're bound to find one you like.

As seen on TV
There's an Acura commercial on now (in the US) with this beautiful man in very stylish uptown casual attire, black blazer over hooded zip up sweat and red T, carrying a rather natty man-bag. Can't see what it is but it looks masculine for a man-bag. You almost don't see it which for me would be the top criteria for a man-bag. Nice with the whole outfit and he looks like DaVinci's David with a stubble.

Man from Marsus
I recieved a Marsus business tote as a gift from my local BMW dealer. It's probably a bit larger than a man purse, but it holds the goods and the laptap too, and I'm most impressed with the quality. Mine is the Marsus DV07A.

James
I like the tote, and I agree that I want it to "disappear." As of now, I only work on a desktop, being that I work with music and graphics, so I don't need a laptop bag. Really 12" wide is the largest I need it to be, my only concern with that is that it would really look more like a purse than a tote at that size. Not that I am uncomfortbale with my sexuality and gender identity 😉 Thoughts?
We're on the right track with aesthetics and price though!

Design opportunity
I think we've defined the core of the problem. A bag for a man roughly the size of a woman's large purse but it doesn't LOOK like a woman's purse. I think a realistic goal for it's look would be gender neutral. Not trying too hard to be absolutely masculine, no spikes, chains or studs (actually that's beginning to sound a bit gay). IS: easy to use; versatile; easy to find & grab a cell phone while walking (repeat as necessary for wallet; ipod; Blackberry; power bar; notebook and pen; anything men might like to carry around with them if only they had someplace to put it); secure; tough; durable (inside & out); carefree material. NOT: a briefcase or laptop tote.

Oh dear, no honey, it's a snack
A pseudo-athlete protein and carb load that's supposed to make muscles maitain health and ward off humger. Basically it's grown up candy bar that is intended to reduce guilt. if one was really nutritionally concerned, one would eat unsalted nuts, fruit and yogurt or hard cheese as a snack, not these weird engineered pseudo-technology things...but that's marketing for you. Now back to man purses...

Power Bar
Think of a silicone coated chunk of particle board (chipboard in the UK?) the size/shape of a candy bar. Mmmmmm

(I apologize to any silicone coated chunk of particle board on DA who take offense at the implication they bear a resemblance to a Power Bar)

Thanks James. Yes its called by both names here but chipboard more so.I myself have a good version of a powerbar which i have most mornings to jumpstart my carcass, four or five expressos with plenty of sugar then a shower followed by a couple more expressos and a vitamin tablet, at this stage my eyes are just about fully open so i can find my car.I hate food in the daytime!.

Accidental shoulder-bag find
Someone in this thread might be interested in this little number. It's blessedly simple, anyway.
