I have come to realize that I am in need of a man purse. I have acquired too many items that I want by my side at all times: a handheld camcorder/camera, iPod, cellphone, cigarettes, the latest issue of y design mags, and whatever book I am reading. I would liek soemthing with a fair amount of compartments thats both stylish, fairly priced, and not too "pursey." What do you use?
Timbuk2
I'm a huge fan of the messenger bag in all its variety. I personally carry a Timbuk2 which has the capacity to hold a laptop (12"), my sketchbooks, my drawing supplies, and my small pouch of personals (toothbrush, stainstick, gum etc).
The pros are that its waterproof, comes in a lotta color varieties, and is very sturdy.
The cons are its basically one big pouch, with very few secondary compartments, and its got a lot of extra straps dangling here and there.
murse
The best murse in my opinion is the Freitag. A bit on the spendy side, but damn near indestructable and waterproof to boot. Plus, your bag will be 100% unique as they are all custom cut from truck tarps.

You guys!!...
why cant you say "handbag"?.Its just a bag to carry things in and it makes it easier these days with what you have to cart around. Like everthing else though, if its what it looks like that concerns you get a few,one for evening or going out in town, one for casual days etc. Forget the diamante look though unless you look good in drag, but then whatever!.Its just a bag guys..
Forget the murse
Have you considered the handsfree convenience of the hip bag (a.k.a. belt bag, hip sack, fanny pack, belly bag, etc.) I know for a while they went out of vogue, but I've seen them make a style resurgence lately, as all things 80's seem to be doing. I like the Azimuth in white by DC Shoes (see dcshoes.com, click Products, then click Apparel, then click Bags). It can hold my cell phone, camera, iPod, my cigarettes if I smoked, and possibly a magazine if you fold it.
In the end, you will never worry about your bag being too "pursey."

i have
always been astonished if a woman opend her hand bag. unbelievable what they all carry with them and the best thing is; once it is 'full' they buy a new one! Glad i do not need one, not even a 'murse'. a little tip; i buy tiny stuff: very very small gps; loox n100, very small gsm, ver small dig camera, and since i am very poor i don't carry any money or wallet ;-). Is this were civilisation is going? the need for a purse because of all the new technological gimmicks we all need to have?
well..
I dont carry that much really, plenty of make up,phone, spare phone, purse, cards, couple of pens, small bottle of vodka, ipod, spare stockings, perfume, spare perfume, headscarf, bunch of keys, spare sunglasses, mints, spare gloves, and a bag with pins clips and grips in it.Oh yes and some other bits and pieces.i have around twelve bags in various guises and i love them all.Plus all the purses and totes.
murse purse handbag whatever
As a not very girl-y girl I hated the idea of a handbag and resisted the idea for years. I used a back pack until it became embarrasing in my corporate days. I use a small courier type satchel that is entirely gender neutral, hip in black leather and it keeps my cell phone and asthma inhaler at the ready. They and a wallet are the only reasons why I even bother carrying one. I'd recommend this type of bag for anyone male female or whatever.
Aerostich Courier Bag...
I'm guessing everyone here knows more than I do about this subject, but if you're looking for something out of the ordinary and designed to be nearly indestructible, consider an Aerostich Courier Bag.
There is this small company in Duluth, MN that specializes in Sport/Adventure motorcycle clothes, bags and accessories. The Aerostich Courier bag is linked below. The owner designs everything for 10/10th's sport/adventure riding. No bullshit, beer gut Harley stuff here. You wanna ride a BMW around the world, this is where you go to get outfitted. Everything he makes will probably last 5 centuries. Men (and women) have been to virtually every place on the planet that a motorcycle can possibly get to in his stuff. The bag may not be stylish enough for you, but if you pedal a city bike in weather, or ride an Aprilia/Vespa scooter in weather, or scream the mean streets in a Ducati, consider it. Real couriers do. Don't let the Hi-viz yellow put you off. It comes in black, blue, grey, etc. Its bigger than the average bag. 18" long, 12" high, 7" wide at the base. Not water proof. If you need high performance water proof, Google Ortlieb. They're a German outfit. I've used their waterproof motorcycle saddle bags. I'm pretty sure they make a courier bag, but we're talking full-on vinyl. Anyway, sometimes people are looking for something mainstream, or chic, and then sometimes for fun they are looking for something out of the ordinary.

Well...
Actually I don't have much stuff. I don't have enough clothes to fill one closet or one dresser. I have a one bedroom apartment's worth of furniture.
I want to be able to catch things naturally as they happen with my camera/camcorder. I want to be able to read when I actually have time ... those awful days you end up at the mechanic or doctor with nothing good and a perfectly wonderful unread book on your nightstand. And, as a musician, I want to be able to listen to music for inspiration at any spare moment.
Being that this is a very simple, reachable goal, I think reaching it is in order. All with the help of the mighty man purse!
