I think either of these options below will be a better venue to ask these questions!

Design Dilemma section on Houzz.com:

https://www.houzz.com/discussions/design-dilemma

Reddit's Interior Design sub:

https://www.reddit.com/r/InteriorDesign/

It's not really what is done round here.

Or.

Focus on your academics. Spend the extra $$ on your pet. Forget design. You.

No, don't forget design. You need basic organization. Clean your room. Throw out your trash.

Get rid of the dresser, the lamp, the curtain, and the television.

Find a dresser in a more modern style, with straighter lines and a painted finish. Find a lamp that looks cool. You don't need a hideous curtain, you have blinds. If you want to black out the windows, use tinfoil. Fuck television.

Move your bed. To start, I'd try just shifting it a corner turn to the left, so it's under the window, not bisected by it.

Get some milk crates to use for tables and storage; build a shelf with some boards.

Close your closet doors. Organize your cords.

Hang up some posters of some shit you like.

Live better.

It ain't rocket science.

Honestly, just hop on Pinterest and start typing in things that you like. Like, hanging plants for example. Or colorful tapestries.

So obvi this comes down to the question, how much time and how much money are you willing to invest into this project? If you want to keep it relatively cheap and quick there's a couple things to do.

If you don't want to paint or don't want to rip up carpet do this:

1) Get a bright comforter

2) Get a bright, colorful rug

3) Get LED bulbs

4) Put up shelves. Put hanging/crawling plants on shelves. ( )

5) And perhaps most importantly, to defeat the feeling you're living in a cave... hang a big mirror!!! This can be tricky but can be done: http://blog.staspicturehanging.com/how-to-hang-heavy-mirror/
