You sure? Looks the same as a floor lamp my mom has from the 1980s.

No. I was questioning the post about the "Tiffany" lamp shade that was supposedly found in a thrift store, but has now magically disappeared.

Carl Koch string chair
So, I know about Carl Koch from his work as an architect but less so about any of his work for Tubbs in Vermont. This string chair is my favorite of his design collab with them because of its simplicity and less "snow shoe" literal look. But I do not know much beyond that. Anyone know any books or places I could research more into this chair?

😉 It is pretty isn't it? I got it from someone in Vermont, and it interested me because Koch was a local Boston architect, and there is so little info on the chair, that for me, this will be a very interesting study to find out more.

Nice stool
bgillettephoto,
The stool is great. I have my eye on three stools used as display pieces. When they decide to sell them all for the price of one I will get them to stack as a design statement and of course be available for use if needed.
The Modernism Rediscovered for Taschen is okay (I have the three book set) but I truly like and desire the Eames - Beautiful Details for Ammo Books in the photo.
Once again, you have good taste spread over a large area of interest.

niceguy -
I plan on eventually having all three at some point to use as side/coffee tables (and a place to sit as it is actually quite comfortable!). I negotiated a ridiculous deal - $2500 for the stool and two palisander LCWs, but I had to pick from what was in stock. I got the "B" shape because my client only had that and the "A" shape in stock, and I didn't like the color variation on the "A". My first choice however would be the "C", but like I said, I plan on eventually having all three.
In the process of designing and publishing a book for work I've developed a nasty book addiction and have an Amazon wish-list a mile long. Eames: Beautiful Details makes for an amazing coffee table book and a design object in itself. I'm still looking for something that covers the furniture development and design processes, the people in the office, etc. "The Story of Eames Furniture" looks to be what I want, but I've heard some damning reviews about its accuracy. I also picked up "Modern Classic: The Eames Plastic Chair" and "Eames + Valastro: Design in the Life of an American Family", both by Daniel Ostroff, who is responsible for eamesdesigns.com.
Right now the book I'd like to get my hands on is "George Nelson: Architect / Writer / Designer / Teacher" published by Vitra.
Somebody should start a book thread... and a documentary thread!

There have been several book threads.
Dunno about a thread listing documentaries, though.
