Several years ago, I purchased a handmade bowl similar to yours. Made by the Society of Brothers, whom I've never heard of until I discovered this bowl. I included a Wiki link to their interesting history.

I bought this handsome little covered tureen three or four years ago for $5 at an auction. I just liked the look of it. It isn't marked. I'd never seen one before and still hadn't seen one until I pulled out an old 1973 Arabia catalog in my pre-moving cleaning spree today.
WHOA! There it was in a deep yellow along with some others in big wild patterns. I think i've seen the patterned pieces before but not this particular tureen.
I was thinking about giving it to Goodwill at one point. If I had, one of you guys would have snapped it up and I'd be reading someone else's post about it right now. Ha!

woof woof, yeah there is a lot of good turning about for next to nothing, its a popular hobby and some have a real talent for it. Its also nice to have modest things that can have a bit more meaning than 'look at me' factory made design, I've packed away nearly all my stuff like that.
Just went for a walk and got these fantastic dictionaries at an old bookshop, despite the covers which I'm indifferent to they are really well designed in terms of layout and readability, 2 volume English Dictionary with translations into French, German, Italian, Spanish, Swedish and Yiddish. I wonder if these days a publisher would do this when they could make more money selling individual books?
