I think the chairs might be...
I think the chairs might be executed in aformosia, a darker variety of teak. It's mostly used for solid pieces like legs, handles, trims etc. Flat surfaces and veneers are mainly done in lighter teak, I've noticed.
Great chairs, the back and lower seat seem pristine! How much did you pay?
Heath
They do sit a little low, I assume from years of use. A few of the strings are torn on 2 of the chairs. I figure I will leave them alone as structurally, it seems to have no effect.
I have ammassed quite a few cool dining sets....can't convince myself to part with them.
Heath (and others). Need some advice on refinishing a Z chair frame that has been sitting in my parents basement for quite some time. I am in no way a wood worker/crafstman and figured I would give it a shot. Maybe you guys could advise this rooky?

I believe there are versions of the Selig/Christiansen&Larsen Z Chair that are oil finished (in teak, and walnut also), as well as varnished versions that are often made from beech that are dye stained a walnut color. Which type do you have? Refinishing a varnished chair with a worn finish can be a lot harder than refinishing the oiled versions.
Baltensweiler Lamp
Baltensweiler Vintage desk lamp, I think it is part of the 600 series. Although it is very much the same as the others I have seen, the cord on mine goes through the base in two spots where on others I have seen it only goes through in one place.
It doesn't look like it has been drilled through either.
