Handsome chair, its nicely akward in a modest way not akward for the sake of it, does that make sense? I like the hint of Windsor in it too.
I got all my Lee Valley stuff, the box came and it was like every christmas had come at once, have never splashed out like that before, was almost dizzy with excitment. Of course the first thing I did was strip a thread on the most expensive plane, my fault, it is a joy to use but also very delicate to set...fortunately now fixed, phew.

For all the Dansk/Quistgaard...
For all the Dansk/Quistgaard geeks out there. Early rare woods (mutenye) pepper mill with matching salt shaker. Flat metal Peugeot grinder, black plastic stoppers and "Danmark" impressed on the bottoms. Pics don't do them justice as they have been cleaned up and oiled since acquired.

Really nice pair. I have yet to acquire anything from the rare woods line.
Heath, yes, I suppose the chair does have a certain boxiness to it. Or, it is unusual in any case.

great shakes!
Almost didn't go to a yard sale because the first thing listed in ad was "salt and pepper collection" a'hem. First thing I spotted was this fantastic wall clock just sitting on the ground - just - sitting - on the ground and ya know, when ya see this - THEY don't know! Fifteen bux cdn and another 60. to the clockmaker who repaired the original german mechanism so the original hands wouldn't have to be replaced. Yay, happy chick! It is a Canadian made Snider clock from early 50's.
As for the S & P shakers, they'd have to be pretty damned interesting to catch my eye and there was nothing there approaching jesgord's awesome pair but I did spy a little pair of Guzzini acrylic teardrop shakers which were thrown in by the seller to sweeten the already saccharin deal.

Well I know this isn't terribly exciting but I found an early Tulip stool in great condition for cheap - of course the foam was hard like a rock, and I had it redone in red Knoll Cato.

Wow
first off, I would like to state that I don't like starting stand alone ID-help threads. I dislike clutter. Anyway...
HELP
I bought this table today and it is obviously smokin' good but unmarked. Solid teak. Amazing joinery. No label. When I saw it I pretty much lost my ability to focus for a moment...
I think that leg detail should be a giveaway.. I will look around and see if I can figure it out solo

Stand alone ID threads are anti-clutter, Waffle.
For instance, had you started one, the "clutter" of the first sentence -stating that you don't like stand alone ID threads- would have been totally unnecessary.
You're not anti-clutter, you're anti-system.

thanks for that
I disagree
YOu should have high level threads entitled
ID MY CHAIR
ID MY TABLE
ID MY OTHER
And then put stuff there. Status quo is just that
but thanks for wasting your time correcting me.
I really don't see how you can find thread after thread saying "help me id my chair" etc. Not clutter. But to each their own

Thats an odd use of wood at the top of the leg where it joins, like it was made out of scraps? Perhaps SDR has an opinion.
I agree with you about having dedicated ID threads, if you'd suggested we ban all ID/value threads from passers by for 6 months I'd have baked you a cake.
Last thing I acquired? %250.00 worth of Lophostemon confertus (pink box), an Australian native and a popular street tree in the US apparantly...for a new workbench and the left overs for turning chisel handles. Hard as a rock and comes out the thicknesser looking polished, high silica content, why not just plane dirt!
