#6 was getting a little large, so I hope no one minds me starting a new one.
Just had this Uniflex dressing table delivered via eBay. Nice design by Gunther Hoffstead, made from teak and rosewood.
The poor girl has had a hard life and is pretty battered - especially the top surface. Pretty rare though, I've seen a lot of examples of the alternative dressing table/desk with two sets of drawers, but not one like this.
Brings my uniflex collection/obsession up to 3....
The condition and poor ebay labelling explains the bargain (£36!) price.
Will post some 'after' pictures once i've given her a clean and some oil.
Ste-Marie & Laurent credenza
Recently bought for practically nothing this fully chromed with ugly vinyl top Ste-Marie & Laurent credenza, designed in the early 70's by André Laurent, Montreal. After some reseach I've found out that it was also available with black top and with walnut, teak and rosewood veneer. So I replaced the vinyl, and changed all the front panel with carribean rosewood (chechen): before and after:
I picked up these...
I picked up these interesting upward firing end table speakers. The original speakers were poor quality. No identity anywhere. I replaced everything with JBL 2800 components i had gotten for free. Also replaced the fabric.
They remind me of George Nelson designs.
.
What a grand day! I slept in, went for a walk, found this for a few dollars, bought a bottle of wine, have cooked a fantastic lunch which I'm going to eat while looking through the book and then I will enjoy the schadenfreude of facebook which pretty much means seeing how poorly everyone from my past has aged.
I've given upon the whole shelves thing...whoever inherits all this cellulose will either consider themselves lucky or damned.
