If only we could all design/decorate one space together with the most roached out, unrestored or unmollested pieces we have. A room to end all rooms. So much patina and funk that it looks like a Mid Century pirates den.
The egg chair gets center stage. Nice.

Round tables with chrome base
I've seen these little occasional tables before, mostly with wood tops. Though I don't have any documentation or evidence of any kind to back it up, I've always suspected that they were by Hugh Acton.
Maybe it's just the similarity of the base to his plant stand, but the construction of the tables seems to me like it could be an Acton design.
He's still alive and working (doing lots of sculpture these days) and I've corresponded with him in the past. If someone wanted to know badly enough it would be a simple thing to write his studio and ask. I'm sure they would get an answer.

The one with the wood top...
The one with the wood top that I found this weekend is very nicely made. The top has a beveled edge (like a tulip table) and is connected to the base via metal tabs with screws. It also has some numbers stamped under the top, that could eventually help with identification. When I get some time, I'll see what I can dig up in my library. I seem to recall one of the Dal Fabbro books has a number of Acton pieces.

I bought the table at an auction and was loading the car up to go home. It was my husband's car, which was newish and I hadn't driven it much yet. I couldn't get the trunk open so I set the table down behind the car and got in the driver's seat to look for a trunk release button. I probably got distracted by something in the car, though I don't know what---and forgot that I'd meant to open the truck. I started the car and backed up and heard a weird noise. Then I noticed a friend of mine gesturing wildly and STILL I didn't figure it out. Gah. So lame. The chrome base was not bent too badly but still it was beyond repair. The top was only a little damaged and I kept it for a long time afterward and put some other legs on it. Just recently a cleaning lady stood on it to reach something high up and cracked the top completely. She didn't say anything to me about it, either. That was the final insult to injury and I mentally buried the whole, sordid mess---until now.
That is the only time I've run over anything with a car, though. I think.
