Last week I bought a storm...
Last week I bought a storm door (the glass insert part) from a local antique/thrift shop that was having a liquidation sale. Their stuff is usually over-priced so I rarely buy from there but I do look occassionally. Anyhoo, they had a liquidation sale because they were overstocked (likely because of high prices). They had two storm doors done by a local artist for his arts and crafts home. He did them in Frank Lloyd Wright style. Stained glass along the top and metal work all the way down. Got one for about $120 which was half off what they were originally prices at. Didn't need both of them as my front door is an interior door. Only my back door opens to the outside.
I also got a Thonet chair from them for $15. Still has the sticker and everything. It had no original price on it. The owner didn't even look to see if it was marked or anything. The teak needs a bit of cleaning and it needs to be reupholsetered at some point but it is sturdy and comfy. It will be used as a desk chair and the eames side chair I am currently using can move back out to the dining table 🙂
I haven't actually picked these pieces up because I have to borrow my brother-in-law's vehicle. I plan on collecting them on Monday. I'll get pics then.
Oh, and on Saturday, I bought...
Oh, and on Saturday, I bought one of those nifty game systems that can play vintage games...NES, SNES, and Sega Genesis. I still has some of my old games and I also bought the Beavis and Butthead game for Sega which is the funniest game ever made. I loved it when I was a kid. And The Legend of Zelda. Sure, it's not mid-century modern but I'm mightily happy with this purchase 🙂
From some second hand stores...
From some second hand stores this weekend - Michael Lax white/orange paella pan (like new) $45, Kobenstyle red sauce pan in perfect shape $25, Rosti Design melamine servers $3, a Dansk/Peugeot pepper mill $25, and a DGS - Denmark chrome plated copper bowl $16.
And a Swedish chair by VDN for $22 (but painted red by a prior owner).
yesterdays
craigslist find. Not sure if it is actually a Baughman chair as I only found one or two others on the net with these wooden legs. Anyway, looks pretty cool and is in great condition. Listed as "60's leisure chair". Picked it up for $175
Sorry for the crappy pic, ex-girlfriend took the camera!
