Conventional employment just feels like a huge con, have a look at http://idler.co.uk/ . I've cut right back and bake my own bread, buy in bulk and go out for walks and play in the shed, am only working 12 hours a week now and I love it. I get these credit card forms from the bank and just tear them up, why would you take something from someone that costs you money? Have got to start making more money from my own work though.
The salt pot is olive wood and made by a company called Berard, they make some good looking stuff. I wonder if the olive wood comes from exhausted trees? It feels really really nice.

for letting me know what the bowl is used for...I think I'll go with the latter and put some "smell-good" in it....I like those candlesticks....good luck on the new way of life you've found yourself in...its amazing what a little DIY and smarts can do for your pocket.....jobs suck anyways...

There is a gear inside the motor that rides in the rippled teeth on the bowl, which makes the bowl rotate. There is a blender jar that is available, a food processor attachment, and I have also seen a meat grinder. I do not have those extra attachments though.
The mixer uses two different wire whisks, or a dough hook.

Heath,
The photo shows some of the possible attachments. My sister has this unit complete as an original owner from the 1970's. Take a look at the MoMA site for further information and specifications.
Nice piece.

Welcome to Melmacville
A set of Melmac dinnerware. I did not grow up with this stuff. So about the only thing I know about it, is that you probably shouldn't eat off of it. Or at least drink coffee out of the mugs (as boiling liquids may release the formaldehyde used in the manufacture of melamine). Since I don't plan to use them, I bought the set for $15, mainly just to decorate my retro-ish kitchen with the three unusual mugs (assuming I can find a place to hang them). Have no idea if they're of any value to collectors or whatnot. I passed on a couple of other Melmac sets at the time, too. One was a nice turquoise, but mostly cups and one plate, as the other pieces varied in colour. The other was a chocolate brown set, but no dinner-sized plates, and they were all a much thinner grade of melamine than the seafoam set I chose.
About the seafoams: They look blu-ish in the foto I took, but are really more of a muted seafoam green, and they say "Made in Thailand" on the back. The smaller bowls and plates are lighter and more greenish in color and say "Made in Canada". So they may be from a different set.
