I know those little finials serve a purpose but if I had a couple of more drinks than what was healthy and a hacksaw was nearby they'd be on the floor in about a minute.

Thrift Store Score! $10...
Thrift Store Score! $10 floor lamp of unknown pedigree. Well, kind of. The weight in the base is stamped "Woodruff-Edwards" which was a foundry in Elgin, IL.
I'd posit that the weight was sourced, and the lamp was NOT manufactured by Woodruff-Edwards, but Treadway auction house had a pair of table lamp versions of this lamp that they sold a few years ago and attributed to W-E (sold for $400, btw). Can't find any other info on the lamp annnywhere online. Regardless, I'm psyched about the score!

great lamp
same place that has the Mobler settee (which I am resisting) now has a PERFECT Komfort Ladies vanity. Looks brand new. Not priced yet. Didn't show any interest this time! Too smart now

Here's something you don't see every day -- I came across an unopened package of Charles Pollock Knoll 657 sling chair replacement leathers - a pair of them. The packing slip says they are Ebony but someone wrote on the package "Natural Brown" - odd. They are dated to 1976 and the package was sent to San Francisco but never opened. I'm curious to open it but haven't yet as I don't know if I will keep them -- I have a set of the Pollock chairs but the leather on mine are in great shape.

Brentgable
I have seen those wine holders with a Made in Japan sticker on them. I think the idea was directly stolen from Aubock.

Brentgable
Brentgable multiplied his investment more than ten-fold. For his Desmond Sawyer designed bottle holder (Desmond Sawyer Design Ltd. Topsham England c.1953 he could expect to receive $32. Published with three other Sawyer items in Austerity to Affluence-British Art and Design 1945-1962, Rayner and Chamberlain/Fine Art Society London. 1997.

Another walk to the second hand shops, truly exceptional day after months of awful weather. Stuff just catches my eye because of shape, colour or mechanism...got this perspex sample thing from mitsubishi a while a go and this brown glass ball today, is a toilet cistern float? Happy.

It was from a garage sale, an architects widow was getting rid of a lot of stuff, I was late so the good stuff had gone but it was nice talking to her.

Well now
I can finally send the kids to college. I just knew I'd strike it rich someday!
But seriously, thanks for the info shipwright. It looks even better when it is serving it's purpose...Shipwright, do you own the book and do you really build ships?
