Anyone mind if we start a new thread for this? I enjoy reading about everyone's new acquisitions, but #2's starting to make my browser crash!

.
don't mind at all, it gets a bit tedious trying to drag that scroll bar down. Try chrome if it makes yours crash, its a very good fast browser.
Off to the weekend markets may have something to share if I'm lucky...

Bell Geddes Desk
as promised, here is a pic (picked it up yesterday)
This is a desk, not a vanity (no slots for a mirror). Has different, but original, pulls
I am GOING TO SELL THIS - question to the boards, what is this thing realistically worth? In very good (not mint) condition? I am thinking of including the Shaw Walker chair as it looks so darn RIGHT with it.
I don't like asking naked "what's it worth" questions but for this I am pretty much at a loss. It's a significant piece.
Shocked I found this at a local thrift store...

Check out
Check out Rago. They sold a bunch Bel Geddes bedroom furniture in 2005. I believe that your "desk" is also in the picture.

An Ox
A Modernica Ox chair in black fabric. I love the shape of the chair but there are some issues that bug me about it. For one, the fabric is this awful black velvety stuff that catches every bit of lint. Secondly - and admittedly it is a copy - there are small details off. The piping around the horns and around the armrests is shoddily done with hard bits of glue poking out.
In high-res photos of the Danish made versions the piping is seamless.
I'm keeping it for a while to see if it grows on me, but I may swap it out or have it recovered.

are you sure it just wasn't reupholstered in a crude way???....sounds like it could have just been a lousy job...i bought a chair that had been refinished im guessing in the 80's and the job done was horrid

Arne Jacobsen Grand Prix chair
Just arrived! On first assembly the legs look a little funky - any thoughts? There is a triangular bolt arrangement that I'm pretty sure you can't put together incorrectly, but it wouldn't be the first time I'd made that mistake.
Also, any ideas as to the wood veneer? I'm thinking teak but am pretty bad at identifying wood species. Larger pic in the link.

Re the Gio ponti set...The hollowware part of the Diamond pattern line was designed by John Prip, the flatware was designed by Gio Ponti. I bought and sold one last year....amazingly beautiful set and nice to see it complete, my set did not have the jug.

Beautiful chair... Did you get it for a good deal?
The legs look right to me, but maybe you could post some more angles of it.

Thanks!
It's been on my wishlist for a while. I got it for just under $700 shipped, which I considered decent enough although I'm not too up to date on prices for such things. I hadn't seen any in a long while, and now there have been three on eBay in the last few weeks.
And the more I look at the legs, the more I think they're just fine.

Killian - Yes, it is my...
Killian - Yes, it is my understanding also that Prip designed the coffee/tea set to compliment the flatware. In fact, Reed & Barton apparently had a hand in the design of the flatware, as well -- the initial design was Ponti's, but they made some modifications to it, from what I've read. I would love to see Ponti's original sketches. I have looked online but haven't been able to find anything.
