Are you totally sure it's an ashtray? I thought it might be too at first but as I look at it more I don't really think it is. First of all the shape is too kitcheny to me and second it's quite big and deep to be a ashtray, 7" diameter and over 3" tall. Ashtrays are almost quite shallow and have a tray/dish form, not a bowl form like this. Also I googled and found it Bitossi did quite a few ashtrays and none looked like this. I could be wrong but I just don't think it's an ashtray. Now maybe it's a cigar tray/bowl? I'm still leaning towards something that's for the kitchen.

Virden Mid Century Modern light fixture.
Got it for free from a friend doing a remodel.
Rewired it and changed the cord so it's a plug in which I swag to the corner of a guest bedroom. Mostly so I can take it with me when I sell the house. Also got two matching sconces with double heads which will serve as bedside lighting over nightstands.
It's bit atomic, but it suits the room. I like it against the Farrow and Ball blue paint. Kind of a nice color combination, imho.

Mrs GA picked up one of those metal/ wrapped bowls recently. While we could not pin it down, we decided from inspection that it was contemporary. My best guess would be World market, Pier 1, Target, or something like that. The thrift stores are crammed full of black metalware like this, and it has been heavily cranked out since the 90's. If you find out something different, by all means let us know.
I don't think that Eames lounge
chair is legit, either--the space between the arms looks cramped. Compare it to the straight-on view of the real thing in this photo from the Herman Miller site. (Link below--it's under "Luxurious Comfort and Support" and is the only straight-on photo I could find).
The radius of the curve of the seat shell looks tighter on the one you bought than on the real one. It's hard to tell for sure without pics taken at the exact same angle but it looks different enough to give me pause. I hope you can resell it and at least recoup your money.
PS - it took me less than 5 minutes to find a photo of the real thing taken at the same angle, more or less, as yours on CL. This chair is one of the most widely knocked-off designs around but it's also one of the easiest to do this photo comparison thing with because there are pics on the legit sites taken from every angle.
