Heath
Yeah, they actually have done that with some lines of contemporary play dolls, probably the most notable being the American Girl dolls which I think Mattel now owns. They had a white one, a black one, a native American, an Asian, etc. Originally they were very, very pricey, like $80 per doll, I think, and this was back in the 80s. They were in the news a couple of years ago when one of the American Girl stores had an event where kids could bring their dolls in for sprucing up (dolly spa day, is how they promoted it, I believe). One little girl from a less affluent family brought in her knockoff of an American Girl doll and was refused service because the doll wasn't genuine. There was a big brouhaha and they made right on it after looking like asses. And in the end, the dolls just look kind of look insipid anyway, at least to me.

They sound like cliches, what...
They sound like cliches, what a minefield though!
I just went for a walk and picked another nice bit of turned burl for a couple of dollars.
Has anyone else had trouble with photobucket? Had to make a whole new account.

Probably about the same as finding an early Zenith RAR in a trailer park for under $50...

I Thought So...
I thought it was amazing also when I bought them - I however did use the same photo as the one's I had before & sold in Vero Bch a while ago simply due to the fact that I did not photos of this set - they sold to a dealer 2 hours later. It's not like they are one of a kind & I find the same things quite often. Remember South Florida is one of the largest area's for modern - a large population of danish finnish & swedish - along with the fact that this area since the early 1900's was one of the largest areas decorated in Art Deco & Modern Design - mostlikely in the U.S. other than California - New York & Chicago. Come here we'll pick together - maybe start a new TV show - put the show American Pickers to shame. You should try buying somewhere else other than where you are or putting on 60 - 200 miles looking - searching - picking on a weekend & throughout the week - might suprize you as to what you come up with.Just a thought, have a great day. rbjr
