McCobb in the Alley
We have drunks and rubbish too... and a toxic paint factory, but the flea market provides some weekly relief and reveals some nice stuff. It's an up-and-coming arts/ residential district.
It wasn't $50 but we didn't try to haggle with the dealer's price either. The piece was unmarked so the tag said "cool mid-century credenza".
Thanks Jim!
Are those yours? You don't see these much here in Belgium.
Tomado was well sold here, but Pilastro didn't it seems.
So I was very excited when this came for sale on a secondhand site. Seller didn't know what he was offering, price was low, but there was much interest, willing to go far above asking price.
I mailed and said it was difficult discussing prices but placed the highest amount I was willing to give (a third/fourth of the value I see at shops or dealers) and I got it!
When arriving at the home of the seller, it was a fifties modern bungalow. Everything inside was changed during the eighties but the coat rack stayed on the wall. I also snagged one vase made by Perignem, a ceramic workshop around Bruges.
It was the only other thing left from the possibly wonderfull fifties interior long gone.
Nice stuff, but
M_Andersen, I would have choked and then had a heart attack if I'd seen that vase for $8!
I am haunted by a vase that I saw at an auction once. I didn't like it at first glance but it quickly grew on me. I started to think maybe it was one of the Danish art potters' work but there was no way to research it there. Then I bid on and got a beautiful rosewood table with six Kai Kristiansen chairs and took the first load home in my car. When I got back, the vase had been sold. I can still see it sitting in front of the buyer where he had parked himself at a table. Waahh...
Meblo lamp
I bought this beautiful vintage 70s lamp for just $12.
The lamp is 45cm in height and 35cm in diameter. Chromed steel base and dual color plastic shade.
I tried to know something about this lamp and found that this lamp was designed by Harvey Guzzini who worked with "Meblo" in 70s.
