Why waffle,
I have a set of the same Dansk Fjord?..enough for twelve hungry dinner companions...and find it simply divine.
Very nice.

I have
quite a bit of Ekco Canoe (black and brown) that we use alot, but this trumps that in every way. It's loveliness pulls at me.

They really are lovely.
I am currently on the hunt for some flatware and this style is precisely what I had in mind.

obviously
it is pretty dear. I got it relatively cheap.
Mark (anyone) I know this pattern has been in production since 1952 or thereabouts, how does one date it? My mark is quite different than many I see (4 ducks, circular mark, JHQ)

I believe the 4 ducks logo...
I believe the 4 ducks logo is the older / oldest marking for the flatware. I was lucky enough to find a 35+ piece set of the Fjord at a garage sale last year for $8. They didn't have the ducks logo but said instead Dansk designs Germany JHQ . I assume they must be newer than yours.
The lovely older couple having the garage sale would have none of me shoving another $25 at them. I think my enthusiasm amused them...I then proceeded to weep openly, throw my arms around them both, and then on the way home I forgot who I was for 30 minutes.
I did go back however the next day and dropped a card with a long, ramble-y thank you and $25 in their mailbox 🙂
I use mine often and enjoy the memory of how I got them, and meeting that lovely older couple, just as much as I enjoy using them...

that is sweet of ya
I should do something extra for this thriftstore. They are very nice to me. I have helped them price a few things (they know I cruise about and know a bit about quite a bit).
I do think this is the older mark. INTERESTING.

How lovely, Solange!
You are a rare (and thoughtful) collector..indeed! Now waffle, I have more than one kitchen...so in the Florida kitchen, I use Swid Powell flatware (by Richard Meier). Neither set is dishwasher safe..but what the hell..I occasionally get lazy and break the rules. And if Arlene Francis promotes Dansk (or Kraft?)...so should you!
ps. I wanted to be Arlene Francis when I was a young child.

That is high praise coming...
That is high praise coming from you....
Mark, I have thoroughly enjoyed how you swirl into a thread, say something fantastically charming, (and often fantastically bawdy), then swirl out, giving us (as Betty Davis once said) "a bit of swish"....every forum needs a bon vivant....thank you for being such a thoughtful host.
P.S Nothing says party like an assortment of vacuum packed meats 🙂

we have cheapish stylish japanese modernish flatware for everyday. The Ekco for people we like and now this...I think a 2nd kitchen might be the easiest solution.

make that 3 craigslist buys
Erik Hoglund Candelabra.
I did a bit of quick research on repro's before I bought this. Don't seem to be any. Seems to be in perfect condition.
Question: should I oil the wrought iron? Darken it? I remember that trick for plants stands, etc. PROBABLY NOT I SUSPECT.
Had to drive a bit to get this. Believe it is worth it.
