Jens Quistgaard 'candle tree'
I can't believe I bought this. A 'JHQ / DENMARK' signed candle holder by Jens Quistgaard, for Dansk I assume.
Executed in cast iron with bronze spacers between the moving branches.
Someone was cleaning out the grandparents house and this needed to go.
It's a weird thing..
I like the candle holder,...
I like the candle holder, and had not seen that particular style before. I just saw a couple pictured online, which did have the Dansk mark on the underside of the base.

Mine has only half of the bow-shaped label on the bottom, but I've seen other examples like that being sold on the web.
When I see that price, I know I got a bargain, at almost a tenth..
I assume no one knew what it was. The seller managed to misread the JHQ mark and sold it as 'JHC Denmark', with no mention of any design pedigree of sort. There seemed no much interest from other buyers.

I used to get cast iron Dansk candleholders 10+ years ago at the weekly junk auction near me. Not every week, but fairly often. I sold them all and now there's so much competition for them that I'll never get another, even if I was still going to that auction. Stupid me.
garage find
a Laurits M. Larsen table. Not Round. Not with the x shaped leg bases. Rectangular with a HUGE hidden leaf. Probably ends up being 9 or 10' long. Needs some attention but is SOLID teak throughout. Should end up being quite nice. Haven't been able to find a comperable.
EDIT - For clarity I should point out that, even when closed, it is a trestle or Shaker table.

Thanks. There is an appealing elegance to how the clock is put together, without any of the parts even being all that costly to produce. It would be nice if more things were designed this way. The glass and metal clock face are held in place by three spring clips, so the entire thing can be taken apart in seconds.
