I have found this lamp, which the seller claims is a Verner Panton lamp. She has no proof or references other than saying that she bought it from a 'VERY reputable modern dealer'.
Can anyone confirm it is a lamp designed by Panton? If anyone has additional information about production years and manufaturer etc, it would be very appreciated.
Maybe this is a question for M_Andersen?
Best,
Alex
Hello Alex.
I've seen and...
Hello Alex.
I've seen and know all of Panton's light designs and I've seen most of Panton's known prototypes.
I honestly can't see anything in this lamp that reminds me of Panton, so I wouldn't believe this seller for one moment unless I was presented with undeniable evidence.
Thanks M_Andersen.
Wow, DA really is a fantastic source of knowledge. When I saw the lamp, I knew I could put my question here and expect someone who'd be willing to try and help me straighten things out...
I like the lamp anyway, but I do want to avoid paying crazy collector's prices for someting which is not authentic...
Thanks again!
colors are very much like panton
That lamp looks similiar to a 331 ceiling light made by Alvar Alto in 1954 but I only think he made that lamp in white,
I also have a lamp that looks similiar to yours by Robert Sonoman but it is also White The fact that it says made in Austria should be easier to narrow it down
Thanks LRF. I'm not so sure...
Thanks LRF. I'm not so sure about the 330, but it definitely has some similarities to Aalto's A910 wall sconce which I also found when googling your suggestions.
Still, just like you said, I doubt that Aalto's lamp ever came in such a colorful version.
