I came by a vanity made by the Kohn firm (wien or vienna, austria), the style is twenties but I know Hoffmann did some striking modern designs a the beginning of the century.
I like the piece but it doesn't really fit in my collection.
Can somebody provide information on this type of furniture?
It consists out of a series of curved rectangles (for example a large framed mirror) and a large stone top.
The whole has been painted over, with a horrible dead grey.
But every underside is tagged.

What info are you searching for?
All I know is that Kohn was a a bentwood manufacturar like Thonet.
They made the famous 'sitzmachine' chair for Hoffman.
Typical of their style is a small wooden ball were the bentwood rectangles/circles connect.
(other topic : I found some info on Belgian company Gervan; but I haven't had time yet to put it online)
Well, I wanted to know if it...
Well, I wanted to know if it was worth restoring.
Also who would've designed this. There are no balls in the corners, but they are used as handle on the drawers.
The bending on the mirror has the same curve as the Hoffman pieces.
What's the position of Kohn in the vintage furniture market?
Great to hear you have something on gervan.
The structure of my website is completed and I am now filling it with content.
I'll post the link here when ready.
