I just received my six DCMs (used) today. I would just like to ask what you suggest using to clean the wood from old random gunk splotches etc. Just soap and water? Would you polish?

Also - what do you clean the chrome with for general maintenance?

One foot came broken, is that easy to replace? Cheers.

0000 Steel wool
Start with 0000 steel wool for the chrome. It cleans up the chroming beautifully, but you've got to put a little elbow grease into it. A little bit of wax will keep the chrome from oxidizing in the future.
For the wood a little bit of soap and water and some paste wax will buff the wood up good. Feet are easy to replace, altho a bitch to get out of the hollow leg.

Those glides only go in one way
I had to drill out the glides to get them off mine...they are designed to go in, but not to come out.
They are easy to get in once you've removed the remnants of the old glides.

If
there's actual gunk on the wood, would it be a mistake to try some mineral spirits -- or at least liquid detergent ? I wouldn't expect soap and water to dissolve all "random gunk splotches" -- would you ? I'm thinking of petro-stickum like tape residue, etc. . .
