I've got a whole set, c.70 pieces, of glazed stoneware bought many, many years ago at "Den Permanente" in Copenhagen, Denmark. Each piece is engraved with the artist's logo. The logo reads Ditlev.Danmark, but could also be Ditley.Danmark.

When I search the net for either one I seem to get a lot more more hits associating pottery with Ditley rather than Ditlev. I was just wondering if you Denmark experts out there could clarify this for me. Thanks a bunch!

Now I really don't know.
I just found five pottery items listed right now on eBay under the Ditley name, and one under the Ditlev name:

a coffee set that is also part of my set.
The first item of the five on eBay, the red pitcher, is also in my set.

I am quite sure...
that it is Ditlev. Ditlev is not a common first name but I have met a few so there are some around. One of them, Hendrik Ditlev Larsen, worked at Lars Syberg's pottery untill he joined Bjorn Wiinblad who was a regular at Syberg's pottery. When Wiinblad started to work with Nymolle, Ditlev joined them. Later on Wiinblad saved Nymolle Fajance Fabrik from going under by taking it over in the early seventies. Everybody called him Ditlev and not Hendrik...
I have no idea if my Ditlev is the same as to one on the bottom of your vase.

Ditlev.
Just from what I know about Danish names and the language, I can tell you that it's Ditlev and not Ditley. Ditley would be English, Scots or Irish. You wouldn't see that name in Denmark.
Also, Ebay's not a good source. All it takes is for one seller to misinterpret a mark once. Other sellers who do their research solely on ebay then keep the mistake going for others to pick up as they bring those items to the market. I know, I've been buying and selling on ebay for eleven years and have seen this over and over.
