All I can tell you about these chairs is that they came out of a Herman Miller facility that closed down. These chairs were in storage and no one knows what they are. They seem very George Nelson-ish in design, certainly has similiarities to the Catenary design.
These are extremely well made, possibly a HM prototype?
Anyone seen these before?
not for sale
I'm just stumped about them. Like I said, they came out of one for the research facilities at Herman Miller, were in a closet and never used. I know a lot about Herman Miller classics but have never seen anything like this. They are untagged of course.
I figure that they are either a prototype or simply not Herman Miller at all.
I figured it out!
This chair is called the "SLED" chair, designed by Ward Bennett for Geiger. Herman Miller sells some of the Geiger products, I think HM even owns part of the company. Found out that the retail on these is near $4000 each. I would consider parting with them for $2000 a piece if anyone is intersted. They are NEW.
