Mmmmm
doesn't ring a bell as being Italian, at least I have never come across it.

I've not seen that before
so I can't help id that piece, but it's very cool. I can see it as a sofa daybed platform as well. Upholstered cushion mattress and a couple bolsters, push it up against the wall and you are in business.
I'd be surprised if there were no makers marks moulded somewhere into the plastic. You scour the entire thing for any markings?

.
It also came in a double bed version, Andreas Christen for Wohnbedarf, I think.
A bit about him online.

Heath is correct.
Stackable fibreglass polyester bed designed in 1960 by Andreas Christen. Produced in off white, red or black by H.P. Spengler, Rümlang from 1960 to circa 1975. Sold by Wohnbedarf.
The surface of the bed was flat at the beginning and later (1961) it was grooved (like yours).
Nice bed!

.
Perhaps the corrugations were to help aerate the matress or for a little stiffening?
