It has been years since I have owned this simple toy. Toys change so much over time, and the amount of yo-yos available is pretty amazing. I think I had a simple wooden Duncan in a dark stain as a kid.
I have always found toy design, in particular scholastic/architectural toys, to be interesting. I know it is a very stupid question, but are there any interesting yo-yos I should know about? Should I find an old trusty wooden one?
More than anything, I am just interested in what kind of response a question like this will receive.
I am reading the new threads...
after a week of absence and I stopped at this one for the good reason that I "almost always" have one in my left pocket. Mine is green stained wood and being somewhat traditional in traditional things, I stick to the double string, not attached at the core of the yo-yo.
PlaySam is great...
This is the link on the PlaySam site for the yo-yo

Zeitgeist (www.z-mfc.com)does not put the yo-yos online but they have them.
