Hello, I bought a Herman Miller chair with sticker Herman Miller, and moulded logo Herman Miller, embossed "S in a circle" and double triangle.
The buyer told me that I was buying a 50s / 60s original, but when I received it, there were a printed date :
1 Dec 1977
Anybody can give me any info about this style?, I thought the production of this chair ceased on 1968, why my chair says 1977 ?????,
In the other hand, how much approx. is reasonable to pay for this chair?, it is in good conditions and with all original logos but I suppose this chair should be cheaper than an original from 50s / 60s. I payed around 800 eur with new runners , is that ok?
Thanks a lot in advance!!!!
1977
If you have a 1977 vintage chair I would guess that it is upholstered, it does not have shock mounts and the base bolts screw directly into the underside of the seat of the chair. Combine that with a new production rocker base and you do not have a chair worth anywhere close to what you paid for it in my opinion.
Well...
The embossed logo is for Summit Plastics.
The shell chairs have never gone out of production. They just have modified the design, production methods, etc. over the years.
Here is a timeline of Eames chairs.

Well...
I had read that the production ceased on 1968, and they continue giving the stock to the pregnat employees till 1984; but 30 years later, return the production of this chair.
That is why I was confused about the date,,,,
and of course, also because the chair I received wasn't
what I bought,,,,
Thanks a lot for your help!!
