Hi I was searching around and found this forum and was wondering if anyone can give me some insight into this chair. I found it at a thrift store about an hour ago and wanted to know approximately when it was made and a general idea of what it's worth. It's a little nicked up with some scratches on the frame and the fabric needs to be cleaned but other wise is in good condition. I can also post more images if needed.

It is an eames aluminum group desk chair. If you don't mind me asking, how much did you pay? From the orange tags on the arms, I'm guessing it came from Goodwill???

It came from a local thrift store. The tag said $4.99 and they happened to be having a half price sale. !!!
I did recognize the chair and sort of did a double take. It was in a corner with some junk piled on it. I told the lady at the store a little about it and she said it had been there for a while and that she was glad to see it go to a good home.
I was wondering how old it was and maybe a little information on the chair as it's hard to find info.
I might take it this weekend to a local vintage shop and see about getting it appraised as I do plan on selling it.
Thank you.

You definitely got a great deal. Regarding your attempt to have it appraised, I'd recommend just looking on ebay for similar chairs ("Eames aluminum group" will bring up relevant items). This'll give you the best idea of what the chairs fair market value is. Congratulations on a profitable day at the thrift store.

Older chair
It look real. It has only 4 legs and the new ones in the US have 5 so it's likely from the 70s or early 80s.
