help identify this clock please

I hope some one out there can help identify this clock. I've had it for about 15 years and it's the one piece I have that has me stumped.
Measures about 20" across.
It has a very generic electric motor.
Face and spikes are black lacquer.
Hands are brass and hour marks are patinated brass.
I think the hands are original but not sure.
Body is made from a single piece of wood, notice the grain.

I have my own suspicions but I would really like to get some unbiased thoughts on it.

Any help identifying this is much appreciated.

Looks European to me...perhaps West German. Kienzle?

I've also thought it has a vaguely European look to it. Maybe you could post some pictures of Kienzle clocks it resembles. In my opinion it has a more refined look than most, including Kienzle. Seems to me more of a craftsman piece; maybe Italian?
