Hi,

We just purchased a Gordon Russell Double Helix Sideboard which we absolutely love.

Upon further inspection we discovered that it had the CC41 (Controlled Commodity) stamp on the back. The CC41 identified utility furniture between 1941 and 1951 in the UK.

Given that the Helix Sideboard was presented at the Festival of Britain in 1951 and not put into production until 1953 (when the CC41 label was no longer required), does this mean we have a very early example?

Or am I just barking up the wrong tree.

Thanks in advance

Ed

If anyone is/was interested. We contacted the Gordon Russell Museum and this was indeed a very early production of the iconic double healix sideboard. This model sits proudly in the V&A Museum in London.
