Am trying to gauge the interest in a seminar called "Outdoor Modernism". It would be held at the Elmhurst Art Museum in suburban Chicago, IL. USA. The event to be conducted on June 16th, 6:30-9:30 PM will feature Richard and Peter Schultz and their 1966 Collection of outdoor furniture and Scott Mahaffey, Landscape Architect, would speak to the Midwest outdoor landscape of the post WWII era and what ques were taken from the California aesthetic. The event will cost $20-non-members and $15.00 members. The Elmhurst Art Museum has attached to its gallery wing Mies van der Rohe's Robert McCormick House.
Interesting. . .
Where was the Mies house built, and when ? It is all too rare to find an intact house moved to museum property. . .
Wish I was going to be in the area for this. The awareness of mid-century West Coast landscape designers (Thomas Church, Royston & Eckbo, etc) is growing.
[The intended word is probably "cues" ?]
It looks very interesting
Certainly enough to move the link tho the proper box

Church seems
very highly regarded, at least in these parts. I looked at the new monograph, and thought it worthwhile -- for fans of landscape architecture, at least. There are a number of Church's drawings in evidence -- but perhaps not as many luscious original photographs of the results as one might expect.
I have found that some books suffer from limitations in the availability of pertinent subject matter to the author or publisher-- for a variety of impertinent reasons, sometimes legal. Multiple sources (where available) are always to be recommended, for serious students of a subject.
