Previous threads discussing social responsibility of designer made me think of a movie, I've seen just recently. It's called "garbage warrior" and it really raised lot's of questions in my head.
Although I didn't like the look of every "earthship" built, I really like the approach based on experimenting with new ways of building.. finally what came out looked a bit like Gaudi's fairy-tale houses in Barcelona..

Did anyone see the movie and have some opinion on that?

Didn't saw the film.
I...
Didn't saw the film.
I guess is the one linked below.
I'll try to see it.
I see an interesting issue: the relation
legal and ethical
(specially when are not aligned (many times))
On the specific of the film, I see that's good for big Amercian audience.
But in Europe and other places there are thing much more interesting with almost no promotion/propaganda.
There is one unfinished thread related..., I'll try to find it.

I've been to the Earthships in Taos, NM
they're not far from where I'll be living in Santa Fe. While I don't really enjoy the hobbit-like design style, I truly appreciate what Mike Reynolds has been doing. He has proven that a fully self sufficient home is acheiveable on a small budget. Many of the earthship were built with a budget of $150,000, many even less. There are a few in Taos that are huge and very glamorous and cost much more, but most don't. Mr. Reynold bought up a huge chunk of land just north of Taos and he will give you a plot for a dollar if you are willing to build your own earthship. It's a pretty phenomenal concept.
This is the Taos community and the link below are units that are for sale.
