Hi,
A little while back I read this thread about desks. Someone suggested purchasing a vintage piece and attached a link showing a walnut example, baring resemblances to the nelson designs.
I quite liked the idea of having a small, little desk, to finish of my living room (something that suited my laptop),
but eventually let the thought go (as so many thoughts come and go..).
Few days later I looked through the window of a vacant house, up for sale. It was almost empty, but in de corner I could just faintly make out a quite smallish desk.
Went to the estate-agent, they hooked me up with the owner who
in return gave me the phonenumber of her brother and so on. A strange conversation later I could pick up my desk for free (gave the kind man a nice box of cookies and a bottle of wine)!
The top is veneered, all in teak. Some brassed up pieces of metal give the overall construction some more support. At the bottom sits the mark Wébé meubelen(=furniture), what appears to be a fusion of two dutch companies: Walraven and Bevers, who apparently in the fifties began making modern teak furniture instead of the oak repro they did before.
Funny to see what they are making now..
If anybody has some more info or examples of what they made back then, it would be very appreciated.
thanks!
someday it will be your...
someday it will be your turn, luna 😉
at jesgord: i hadn't looked at it that way, when you say it
it does look quite italian, especially the two legs (the way they are 'restrained', pushed inwards to each other).
i'm thinking of using one sort of spiraled cable, big enough to stock all the cables away.
thanks for the enthousiastic comments!
